Principal's Message
I believe in reinforcing and authentically celebrating all of our students’ cultures and identities and collaborating with you to continue the work of growing their sense of belonging at Brookside.

Dear Brookside Elementary School Families,
It is with great excitement and joy that I greet you as your new Principal. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the Brookside community and be at the "Hidden Gem of the Community."
I come to you with 12 years of school leadership experience, with 7 years in elementary, 3 years in secondary, and 2 years serving as Delaware Department of Education and Christina School District’s dual language immersion coach and curriculum specialist. Prior to this rolel, I served as an Assistant Principal at Oberle Elementary School, here in Christina, and in the Bellevue School District at Somerset Elementary School and Jing Mei Elementary schools. I have also taught EL to language learners at the elementary and secondary levels and have served as a reading specialist for Seattle Public Schools.
My passion is in growing teachers, working collaboratively with school-wide teams, and developing academic, social-emotional learning, and behavioral supports for all of our Brookside students. I am also excited to work alongside our teacher leaders and teams to support the leadership moves that drives student-driven instruction and student well-being.
I believe in reinforcing and authentically celebrating all of our students’ cultures and identities and collaborating with you to continue the work of growing their sense of belonging at Brookside. I am a first-generation immigrant from Taipei, Taiwan and am someone who understands first-hand the needs of our English language learners and multilingual learners. I hope to honor all of our Brookside diverse students and serve them and our families equitably and honorably.
Warm regards,
Helen Yung
Principal
